To drive awareness for food allergy this Halloween season, monuments and significant landmarks across the country will light up in teal throughout the month in support of our #ShineATealLight campaign. Thank you to our friends at Light It Teal for starting this initiative which has spread across North America!

Join the Sweet Caroline Foundation for their Sweet Caroline Run taking place tomorrow October 8th at 10am ADT at Rothesay High School. You can also participate virtually.

This run/walk is to honour the memory of Caroline Lorette who passed away at the age of 14 from an allergic reaction to dairy. There is of no better way to celebrate Caroline than by coming together in community and sport.

Small group webinar (maximum 6 participants): Managing food allergy and anaphylaxis

Small Group webinar series

Do you have questions on managing food allergy and anaphylaxis? Attend one of our free 90-minute interactive webinars led by a trained parent mentor. You’ll learn fundamental information about daily management and living confidently with food allergy and the risk of anaphylaxis. Plus, you’ll connect with others in our community who can relate!

These sessions are geared towards parents of children who have been recently diagnosed with a food allergy. It’s also a great session for others who are interested in this topic, or would like a refresher.

Following the session, you’ll be able to answer:

  • What are food allergy and anaphylaxis
  • How to avoid a reaction
  • What are the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis
  • What to do in an emergency

Sessions are limited to 6 attendees and fill up quickly, so register now to save your spot. Our next sessions are Wednesday, October 19th and Saturday, November 5th.

Support groups provide a warm and caring environment for you to get help in dealing with the day-to-day stress of being at risk of anaphylaxis or having a child who is at risk. Plus, you can keep updated on any new developments in the food allergy community.

Find a support group near you and connect online! If there isn’t one in your community, we’ll help you get one started.

Encore presentation series: Celebrating safely

In this series, we feature past online events and webinars. With Thanksgiving this weekend and Halloween coming up, watch our celebrating safely series to help you prepare for safe and fun holidays. You’ll learn tips for staying safe with food allergy during celebrations, including how to read food labels and how to avoid cross-contamination. Plus, learn how you can be allergy aware, and #ShineATealLight to help make Halloween safe and inclusive, and discover allergy-friendly recipes for Halloween.

Learn how to stay safe with food allergy at Halloween. Plus, learn how you can educate others on making Halloween safe for all, including shining a teal light and offering non-food treats. This interactive session involves a trained peer mentor discussing key educational points, while leading the participants in games and activities.

If you are serving treats, remember to ask your guests if they have any food allergies. Check out these fun and spooky recipes from Nestlé for some Halloween treat ideas. These recipes are peanut-free, however, please adapt the recipe as needed to make it allergy-friendly for you/your guests.
